The story behind Nimmy & Bee

Why I made this

My sister and I grew up drawing the same two characters. A fluffy pink ball of warmth called Nimmy, and a small buzzing bee called Bee. She drew me as the bee. I drew her as Nimmy. They lived on random stationery whenever we passed notes on our bunk beds.

Then I moved across the world, and my niece Maddie started growing up without me nearby. I was missing the small stuff. The new words, the little nothings only she finds funny. Her little sister Maxene is just now starting to walk, and I am missing that too.

So I brought Nimmy and Bee back, and gave them a purpose. Every chapter is really just me saying goodnight to my adorable niblings, from far, far away. I hope it can do the same for you and yours.

Questions you might have.

What's the trial chapter? +
A real first chapter, generated from your photo and starring your niece or nephew, delivered as a private digital flipbook. Production starts September 1, 2026. Orders placed before then are queued and delivered shortly after production begins. Once production is live, first chapters are delivered within about a week. If you upgrade, it counts as Chapter 1 of the bound book.
Do I have to write the story myself? +
No, that's the best part. You send a photo and, if you like, one line about it. That's the only writing on you. Nimmy and Bee write and illustrate the whole chapter, tuned to your niece or nephew's age, and you review every page and can ask for changes before it's ever shared. If you'd like to add your own words, every book has a page for a personal note to them.
Can I just buy the trial and stop there? +
Yes. The $8.99 is yours to keep as a one-off digital chapter. No subscription, no auto-charge, no follow-up emails unless you ask. If you love it, the founder unlock is $49.99 to continue building toward the bound book.
What does my nibling choose at the end? +
Every chapter ends with your nibling tapping one of two picture options. It's her own small say in the story, a way of joining instead of just listening. The next chapter opens with a callback to her pick, so she feels heard. For you, every tap becomes a tiny signal of who she is and what she loves. A little closer to her, even from across the world.
Is this safe? Aren't you a little worried about AI for kids? +
Every chapter is reviewed by a real person on our team before it reaches your sister's phone. Nothing auto-publishes. We built this for our own niece Maddie first, so we hold it to the bar we would want for her.
Why use AI for this at all? +
Because we wanted to know if AI could help us make something more human, not less. Nimmy and Bee is partly an experiment in that. The illustration style, the story structure, the way the language scales for a three-year-old, all of it has real research and a real auntie underneath. AI is the tool. Our niece Maddie is the first reader we are building for, and her opinion is the bar.
What happens to the photos I upload? +
They are used to write that one chapter, and nothing else. We never sell them, and we never train public models on them. You can ask us to delete everything at any time, and the photos stay between you and us.
What if I cannot keep up with 12 chapters? +
A book has a 12-month window, but no weekly clock inside it. A chapter can take a day or a whole month, however it fits your life. Nothing expires, nothing charges twice. The hardcover gets bound whenever you reach chapter twelve.
When does the hardcover ship? +
We bind and mail it within three weeks of your twelfth chapter. We ship worldwide. Shipping cost varies by destination and is calculated at checkout.
Is this only for younger kids? +
It is built for ages 3 to 8, the bedtime-story years. If they have outgrown bedtime stories, this may not be the gift for them just yet.
I'm not an auntie. Can I share my adventure too? +
Yes. Uncles, mommies, daddies, grannies and gramps, everyone is welcome to connect with the little ones in their lives through stories.
